Be Quiet & Listen!

by Ra Gabriel

Turn off the TV
we need to sit and talk
standing here humbled by the universe and its mysteries
bogo bogo bebusu [1]
a fake language built out of
to my jagiya [2]
there are things to consider
the sweetness of honey in green tea
the adrenaline of a night in the club
how guarded some people are
with the shades pulled and lights dim
sitting in their own smoke
others are all over.
Jim Kevala macking on everything in sight
extracting talking from a relationship
I, Yeti, reader, writer,
the walker hand in hand
carry my bag, no, she hands it over
I don't want your bag!
Or do I?
the Libran dialect, constant dichotomy
they're not scales
the indecision is more like an infinite pencil ground in a sharpener
or a chainsaw grinding through a cosmic tree
have you examined those stars?
Felt the last yellow glow of a setting sun?
Smacked kisses on a lush butte?
Eaten sweet fruits you couldn't name?
Have you truly acknowledged the world?
Let us go, then, you and I!

[1] bogo bogo bebusu — I miss you baby, in a pidgin language mix of Malay and Korean.
[2] jagiya — Korean for honey, darling.
